Nous Sommes Arrivés!
Yes, we got here just fine. The boys on the boat sailed through no problems (terrible pun, sorry) and met Mum & I as planned at Angoulême areoport. We then stopped off at a supermarket for a few supplies, arriving at our new home around 6pm. Sharon (and Oscar) gave us a fantastic welcome – champagne and glasses chilling in freezer. Bloody marvellous. We then ate out at a local restaurant – cheese, wine and food all to die for, even though, as expected, the choices were duck, duck, lamb or beef…
Today, we woke up feeling refreshed and breakfasted on some ham and cheese before heading out for fresh food supplies for the next few days. The small fly in the ointment is that it is 01 November – All Souls Day – so the country in its entirety is closed. Merde. After a literally fruitless search for food, we returned home for lunch (ham & cheese) and started to unpack in earnest. We have made v good progress and, except for a bit of an issue with our internet connection, we are more or less sorted. I may even have to break out the guitars later.
Mum & Dad meanwhile, have bravely decided to go and visit some old and….ummmm… somewhat feral friends who live a couple hours further south. If anyone reading this knows Colin & Alison Appleby and their army of children, you know what I am talking about. They may or may not return.
We will be posting some pics of our new abode very soon…
Do keep this up! This is fabulous I am so jealous already
So looking forward to reading more of your adventures in France
Big hug
