Our mutual timeline begins on 21 September when we first met. It was on a saturday night in a seedy gay club in Brixton called Sub Station South . A rather inauspicious start to a relationship it must be said. Several dates followed – an unusual development for the both of us.

Will lived in a flat in Camberwell where he rented a room off of a slightly insane and thoroughly unpleasant hairdresser called Jack. Matt meanwhile lived in a small flat in a quiet street in Islington. Matt was working as a programmer for Channel 4 Television and Will had recently started a new job at a highly dysfunctional place called the Securities Institute, based in the City.

At about the same time we met, Matt became an uncle for the 2nd time with the birth of his sister Suzy’s first child, Maddie. Maddie followed fast on the heels of Miles, first child of Matt’s brother Ben.
