We’re in the final stages of preparing for our upcoming trip to MN via Iceland. We leave tomorrow afternoon, get an early morning flight to Reykjavik on Wed, leaving the next afternoon, then staying in MN until Tues. We’re renting a car in Iceland to make the most of our short time there. We’ve not yet packed, but have plenty of time tomorrow.
It was a largely quiet week. I took Sophie over to Paratheses, where we’re having the wedding. We met with Francoise who showed Sophie around the room and the kitchen. We discussed various aspects of the day including many things I hadn’t thought of. We’re no closer to knowing the exact menu, but we have a better idea. We’re now thinking of having a few hours between the ceremony and the apero for people to enjoy the site. This is all subject to change of course but it was good to get some ideas and answer some of my questions.
Nothing else happened until Friday night when we went to Manu and Mathilde’s for curry. It was just the four of us, and we sat outside the whole night. The curry was a bit better than normal, plus Manu made his onion bhajis with an asian sauce that was lovely. We got home and watched a bit of telly before retiring.
Saturday it rained most of the day, so we felt ok about staying indoors. I visited the Beaufils in the afternoon and ended up staying over an hour chatting with them. They went to Bordeaux yesterday to celebrate their grandson’s 18th birthday. They are both well and didn’t complain about any health issues which is unusual.
Yesterday we went to Emmanuel and Olivier’s for the latter’s birthday. There were close to 20 people including seven children between the ages of 1 – 15 yrs old. It was a nice day and we had brunch outside which was tabouli, a veggie tart, tuna loaf, cheese, bread and loads of dessert. I brought a batch of carrot cake cookies and they were appreciated. We had champagne to start and with dessert plus wine in between, but over the course of three hours so not excessive. After the meal, most everyone went swimming although the water was a little cold. We left late afternoon and were home around 6:30.
Today we both did a little work in the morning. Sue and Bob came over for help accessing their email from their PC. I mowed the front and back this afternoon. I hope the next entry is a lot more exciting than this one.
