We’re Ready for our Holidays Now

Our 2018 so far can be summed up as a constant flood of work, and this past week has been no exception. Hot on the heels of our big push to get the vineyard site live, we got an email from a client whose site we began in October last year. It’s for the Garden Tomb, a Christian religious site in Israel, and it’s one that fell in my black hole called Awaiting Content, where it languished for three months.

So of course, when they finally came back to us, it was with an urgent deadline of 27 March. I’ve been working full time on that and Matt’s been half time on it and half dealing with other clients, including the vineyard people who have a separate blog site we’re having to cobble together at speed. Thankfully we’re in good shape to meet the Tomb people’s deadline, and should be OK for the blog. We’ve both had record-breaking quarters this year money-wise, and I have to say, it feels well-earned.

As if that wasn’t enough we also met a new client on Monday. He’s a French guy from Paris who, along with his Mum, bought a large gite complex nearby that they have renovated. They don’t need anything complicated in terms of a website, but they do want it done asap in time for the tourist season. Looks like we’ll both be hitting the ground running on our return…

But who cares about that: we’re off on our honeymoon this Thursday. Blimey has that come around quick. Time to start spending some money instead of earning it! Mum and Dad arrive on Wednesday afternoon so we can give them a crash course in living at Port 80 and then we’re on the road, leaving them to look after the house and cats for us.

Work aside, we’ve not been getting up to a lot. After a nasty cold snap, we had some very mid and even sunny weather. It was so pleasant that even the fat cat spent a few hours outside. We’re back to rain now, but it was nice while it lasted. Speaking of the cats, they seem to have picked up a new nemesis, a big grey cat who keeps intruding into the garden. Any injuries so far have been very minor, but he’s persistent.

On to the weekend: Friday was a very pleasant evening round Rigit’s. They’ve bought a new wood (well, pellet) burner which means they can make use of their large lounge/dining room again. We’re used to how their place looked when it was just their holiday home so it’s really nice to see it now fully furnished and decorated. It feels like a home again. After an enjoyable meal and evening, we came home for a nightcap and film.

We had no plans on Saturday and both did some work. Sunday was also a quiet day, but we had band practise in the afternoon. This went pretty well and certain songs now sound quite polished. But we’re also still messing around with a few others that are quite rough around the edges and probably wont see the light of day.

Right, that’s it from me. Tune in on Monday 26th for the post-holiday entry!
