Winter is still nowhere to be seen in Mazeroux this week. It’s been grey, drizzly and occasionally very windy, but not cold. In fact, if the forecast holds, February is gearing to end on an impressive run of sunny days that will hit a high of of 17 degrees. We shall see…
This will be a nice welcome for Mum & Dad, who have accelerated their plans. Dad’s van sold at the weekend – the last thing holding them back – so they’re setting off the day their furniture is collected. They’ll arrive two weeks before it does, but they’ve got the bare essentials here already, and it means it will be easier to paint the walls. So, they arrive late on the 20th! They’ve been going stir crazy these last few weeks so it’s great things are moving forwards for them now.
The chimney at their house out here still needs lining. It should have been done last thursday, but the chap has come down with the flu and is in bed with a fever. He has this Friday blocked out to do the work and promises me it will all be done before their arrival, come what may.
Work has been quiet for me as I have still not heard back from the winery about my design. In the meantime, I’ve been doing as much as I can on the site. I also put live and got paid for the “faith healer” website and am pleased that’s now behind me.
Matt had an interesting referral with an international twist. There’s a couple based in Buenos Aires who make software for WordPress, and we use it quite extensively as it’s of excellent quality. Some time ago, Matt reached out them to introduce himself and see if their was any scope for collaboration. On Friday, we got an email from a large Australian company that also used this WordPress software, and wanted to customise it for their own ends. They’d contacted this couple in Buenos Aires to discuss their needs and they immediately gave them our details! It’s early days yet, but looks promising.
The other news is that on Saturday, the cats celebrated their 9th birthday (whether they realise it or not). Cannot believe they’re that old already! Apparently, in the states, when your age matches the day you were born on (ie, turning 9 on the 9th), it’s called your Golden Birthday – so happy golden birthday, boys. I’ve compiled a wee album of the cats from 0 – 9 years old. It’s quite cute.

After spoiling them with a birthday treat, we left the pusses to fend for themselves that evening as we were invited to Ridget’s, along with Françoise who we collected en route. We hyped up Rich’s cooking skills in the car on the way over, so he had a lot to live up to – which he of course did. It was a full Indian curry, all home made – poppadoms, naan, samosas… It was copious and divine, and was followed by a repeat of Françoise’s banana, apple and chocolate crumble she made us the weekend before. We stayed chatting for a bit and then bid them good night.
We got home around 12:30 and decided that was time enough for a film and a cleanser. We had a free Sunday again as Marie & Christian are off down south to babysit for a week, so we chilled at home. And that’s about all the news.
