Could this be the Dullest Entry Ever?

This promises to be a swift and uninteresting update, I warn you now. Our lovely warm spell lasted until Friday last week, and most welcome it was too. It has been much cooler, damp and grey since, but it’s supposed to get nicer again tomorrow. More outside time for the cats and for the houseplants! The one downside of the mild weather is that tick season has started early and they’re already starting to average one a day. The cats that is, not the houseplants.

There are no big new work developments to report, but things are progressing well on our various projects. This week we have meetings with 2 clients, one tomorrow and the other on Wednesday. The first is a removals service based in Villebois-Lavalettte. The guys contacted us some time ago but had been busy since so it went quiet. He now has more free time so wants to get the ball rolling.

The second is for a holiday rental manoir in Bergerac owned by an Aussie couple. They contacted us in November last year and since then I’ve been struggling with the site design: they wanted something that looked high-end and respectable, but also quirky and unusual. I just couldn’t get my head around what that meant. Anyway, they like what I’ve done and now we’re meeting up to discuss their booking system, then the site should be good to go. I also have a crazy French wedding caterer to deal with. He’s very nice, but very chaotic too. Luckily, that one’s close to done too now.

Aside from work we’ve done very little of interest all week, so on to our weekend, which was curry night. We invited M&M (Manu & Mathilde) and Philippe. M&M brought along two of their girls who spent the evening playing on the Wii upstairs and as usual, they were as good as gold. We gave M&M some champagne to thank them for their help proofreading the French pages of our website, which I’m sure took them ages, and they were very grateful. Her sister was a little peeved though as she had just shelled out €1000 for a quite plain looking website for her winery. She helped Mathilde with some of the proofreading and in doing so, realised that we’d have done her a site for half the price. Well, she knows for next time!

We had a lovely time with everyone, but all of a sudden it was 2.30am and we were all the worse for it. Needless to say, the following day was a sofa day. We’ve seen a number of good new films lately, including Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, The Theory of Everything (the Stephen hawking bio) and Cloud Atlas. All well recommended. We capped our weekend off with a pizza takeaway last night, which was all the more enjoyable for being unexpected, given our usual luck with the restaurant’s erratic hours.

I really can’t think of anything to add so I suppose I shall leave it there. Our lives seem to have become even more boring of late, if that were possible! Hopefully Matt will have something more interesting to recount in a week’s time. Until then, bonne soirée.
