Both of us have been utterly consumed by our large project this last week. The good news is that it’s more or less done now – well, phase 1 at least. This is just in the nick of time too as their current sites are going to be taken down at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon so we have to get something live before then.
It’s been a gruelling process but between the two of us we’ve managed to create a website, based on a quite complex design, in record time. Here’s the fruits of our labours. The clients are very pleased with our work, and we’ll almost certainly end up taking over their other website too, so financially it’s all good, even if they’re a bit of a pain to deal with. We have one final mad push tomorrow in which we’ll try and add the French version (assuming they come through with the text as agreed) and iron out any last minute bugs, and then the pressure’s off.
Getting everything sorted tomorrow works out nicely for me as I can’t remember the last time I worked on my birthday, and I’m none too keen to break the habit now. We plan on seeing Benoit & Virginie, and potentially also Manu & Mathilde, at the weekend to mark the day.
We’ve been so taken up with this project that I think I’ve little else to share with you that’s newsworthy. Like the UK, France is about to be battered by a vicious arctic cold snap. It is falling to minus 8 tonight, with a high of minus 1 tomorrow. I am sure the Minnesotans amongst our readership are scoffing at that, but over here in Europe, we’re not at all used to it! Luckily it’s due to warm up considerably by Thursday. In the meantime, the shutters are shut and the stove’s blazing.
We had weekend plans on the Friday when we were invited to Lewi & Pary’s for dinner. Along with them was their lodger Stéphanie and her fella Bruno, who we’d not met before. We chatted over drinks and nibbles then sat down to a v tasty chicken meal, followed by Matt’s brownies for dessert. We stayed a few more hours chatting and then came home.
We’d originally intended to work over the weekend but having done so the last weekend too, neither of us could ultimately face it. Instead we took it easy and chilled out. On Sunday, Matt took advantage of the sunshine to do some gardening. In the afternoon we had a band practise that mostly went well.
And that’s about all I have to say.
