Quietly Working Away

Apologies for the lateness of this entry. Mum and Dad arrived yesterday afternoon for another week of working on their house and so I overlooked my blogging duty. Well in fact, this trip is mainly about buying a used car, which we hope to achieve this afternoon.

Luckily for me, this is likely to be short blog post as there’s virtually nothing to note about last week. As Matt mentioned, he did check out the choir in Nontron on Monday. He’d virtually written it off before he’d even gone, for the simple reason that Monday is a far from ideal night for an activity. However, the choir, which has been running for decades, is apparently light-years ahead of the former one in Milhac in terms of ability, and so he’s hooked and will be going on a weekly basis.

And that I think was the only activity that took place all week. We have both of us suddenly got quite a bit of work on and so spent the week plugging away at it.I have another translation project, having just finished a very tedious one, and I am now working on a new website for a villa rental company in St Tropez. This comes with an abitrarily urgent deadline and will involve both of us working on it. In the interim, Matt’s got a few other projects he quoted for a while back and that have all recently got the green light.

Knowing we had guests coming this week, we made no social plans at the weekend. On Saturday morning, we went to Miallet for a VIAPL event (our anti-wind farm group). This was on the theme of renewable energy and it was quite interesting. They discussed all the different options out there and evaluated them, with a particular focus on their suitability for our local area. Needless to say, wind energy got a resounding thumbs down. The event kicked off at 10 and predictably overran. There were drinks and nibbles at the end, but it was nearly 1pm at that point so we made our excuses and came home.

Matt worked the rest of the weekend and I gave the house a clean in readiness for our guests’ arrival. There wasn’t even a band practise on Sunday, as it was cancelled. And that’s literally all I have to say. Au revoir for now.
