I’ve very little to report, so this should be short. I had choir on Tuesday, which is getting a bit better. We’ve got some new members this season, some of whom are fairly good. We talked about forcing people to up their game or go home, but so far, the choirmaster hasn’t made an announcement. With more people, the bad ones get drowned out, so it’s fine for now. I also went swimming and to conversation on Thursday. I’m not getting much out of it since there’s no French speaker with a decent level of English. Since I’m president of the asso, I feel obligated, and I usually learn at least one new thing every time, so it’s not a total waste.
Will went over to his parent’s place to pay the builder who finished the roof. He got the refund for the extra electric parts that he returned. The fosse guy is still waiting for the go ahead from the mairie, but it should be forthcoming imminently, or so they say.
The weather has turned decidedly wintery. Not terribly cold, but grey and damp. We had a fair amount of rain last week, which we needed. I may need to mow one more time this year if I get the chance. We got the chainsaw going for the first time this season, although it took awhile to warm up. It wasn’t running well until Lucien cleaned the air filter, and now it’s fine.
Work continues to be busy for both of us, although it’s definitely calming down. Will submitted his design and they were pleased with the bulk of it, so he’s pleased about that. I put a site live last week, and started on a few smaller projects. I finished with the mass email migration which was painful, but went mostly according to plan. The big project I’ve been working on since last year is nearly done, or phase 1 is anyway. There’s already a list of new work to start on as soon as the site is fully live. I also heard back from the local woman who wants a directory listing site. She’s given it the green light in principal, so that will keep me busy over winter.
We had one social event this week when Lucien and Mauricette came for dinner on Friday. It had been a long time since we’ve had them over, which is a bit shameful considering how often we eat there. They were both in good spirits, although they both have plenty of minor health problems. Lucien is on antibiotics, so wasn’t drinking much. He spends so much time in the woods, and ticks love him, so he’s always getting bitten. They’ve had even more encounters with Gilles & Myriam, who have cut down some of Lucien’s trees, and put up a fence on his land. Dinner that night was sloppy joes, sweet potato fries, and stir fried broccoli. I made cream of tomato soup to start, which was easy enough, but not that interesting. We had a bit of cheese, and then cookies and ice cream for dessert.
The rest of the weekend was spent indoors with the cats. We finally did our thank you cards, and just need to post them. We have a few more people to buy gifts for, and need to sort out our wills with the notaire, and then we’re done with wedding chores. We rehearsed with Christian on Sunday afternoon, and tried out some new songs that he suggested. Many feature in the Woodstock soundtrack, to give you an idea. The Soiree Franco-Britannique is on Saturday, so you can look forward to hearing about that.
