Welcome back to Frog Blog. For me, last week should have been major crunch time, with 2 big sites due to go live at the end of the week. Both had planned launch events which meant the deadlines were unmissable. As it turned out though, the pressure’s off. One of the sites was the headache-inducing French Wedding Company site that Matt mentioned in his last post. The client has since cancelled the launch date and we’re now working on revising the design with a view to going live as and when it is ready, which suits me fine.
The other is for CNPV, an equestrian association, the deadline for which was so it could be presented at their AGM. In the end, the staff were far too busy preparing for that to send me the last bits needed to finish it off, so we agreed to just show them the site so far, which again suited me fine.
Having a lull meant that we instead put the week to good use and are now in the final stages of completing our new Port 80 Services website (version 7, can you believe!). As well as a totally new design, the site also merges Colleen’s and our business models, so once it is done, we plan on doing away with her site and having all its traffic direct to our new one. We’re really pleased with it and looking forward to getting it live. Workwise in general, the enquiries are still coming in periodically, so there’s no danger of a drought on that front.
Beyond that it has been a fairly quiet week here – and a cold one too. We’ve taken to closing the shutters at night which has the duel effect of keeping us warmer, and making me sleep in much later than planned. Since February rolled around, we’ve had a few dustings of snow and it’s due to hit lows of minus 6 and not much above 0 in the day for the coming week. This month is always good at reminding you that you’re not out of the woods yet as far as winter goes.
In other news, we called in to see Lucien and Mauricette on Friday as we realised it had been a while and we wanted to see how he was getting on with his new laptop. We ended up staying for a couple hours, just long enough to fix a small issue and have a drink or 2 and for a catch up.
On Saturday evening, I went to the CNPV meeting to show them the site. There were about 80 people there, so it was a little nerve-wracking giving the presentation, but I covered all I needed to and the site seemed to be well received. Once I’d finished I had to stay for the rest of the meeting, which ended up dragging on a bit. Luckily though, there were some familiar faces including Ute, Jean-Claude and of course Jenny. Once it was over, we chatted and had a light bite and then I came home for a late dinner. Now the meeting is done, we should be able to finish their site very soon.
On Sunday, we invited Bryan and Carol and Ute over for dinner. Matt spent most of the day cooking in preparation and the meal was a big hit. It was a new lemon and mushroom turkey breast recipe we’d only done once before and everyone enjoyed it. The rum and raisin apple pie that followed was also a great hit and was all polished off that evening. Our guess all seem well, and it was nice to see them.
Right, that must be a record for me, but I’m stopping there! See you soon.
