Winter has arrived

First off, a big thanks to Andrew, who sent as a hand-carved plaque reading “Nous Sommes Charlie” in the tricolores. Jean Claude has purchased us a copy of the issue that was released after the attack, but we’ve yet to retrieve it. Things have mostly quieted down now on that front.

There’s not a lot to report, so I’ll start with the weather. Winter has arrived, although it’s still very mild by MN standards. We’ve had temps around -3C at night, and high’s not much above freezing. We’ve closed the shutters for the first time at night this week, and have been putting Lola in the garage. Today it’s slightly warmer, but it’s grey and misty, much like living in a cloud.

We had a quiet week, apart from work. Will is nearing completion of his two sites with end of January deadlines. One of the clients threw a wobbly on Friday, saying she wanted to completely redo the design to look like her competitors. I think Will has talked her down off the edge, but it’s still unnerving. The other site is for CNPV, and Will is to present it at their AGM on Saturday. I’ve been working on a new site that I took over managing. It’s a friend of Abby’s who runs an animal rights blog. They weren’t happy with the developer’s response time, so I’ve taken over.

We did nothing socially for the entire week, I’m ashamed to say. We tried calling around at chez Beafils yesterday, but they had company. I went to choir practice and conversation group, but that was about it. I also went over to Ute’s to sort out her pc on Friday. I’m planning to invite her and Bryan and Carol over for dinner soon. We’ve started doing a bit more band practice, but not too seriously since we still don’t have a date.

We’ve had a bit of good news: Dave has sold his flat in Olney. Hopefully, it won’t take too long for the sale to go through. Will has mentally spent his share of the proceeds on a new computer, camera and acoustic guitar. This also means Dave and Amy can start house-hunting in earnest.

The cats are coping, but only just. Louis is fairly good about going out, regardless of the weather. The Smoo, not so much. In fact, he’s putting on a lot of weight. He eats more, and goes out very rarely nowadays. There have been a few sunny days when he acquiesces, but mostly, it’s the sofa, or a box. This is possibly my shortest entry ever.
